Call for Pilot Centres - Framework for the Provision of Pain Services for Adults Across the UK with Cancer or Life-Limiting Disease

Published: 24/02/2020

The Faculty of Pain Medicine, along with the Association for Palliative Medicine, Association of Cancer Physicians and The Faculty of Clinical Oncology of The Royal College of Radiologists, published the ‘Framework for Provision of Pain Services for Adults across the UK with Cancer or Life-limiting Disease’ in February 2019 with the aim of stimulating discussion and action to improve pain management for patients with these conditions. The ambition remains to engage NHS England with this Framework so that it becomes integrated within both Pain and Cancer commissioning programmes.

In a project led by Professor Mike Bennett and Dr Matthew Brown, 8 Pilot sites are required from across the UK to trial the approaches outlined in the document. It is envisaged that this process will occur over the course of 2020 and 2021 with data collected on a range of included patient outcomes and stakeholder perceptions. Centres will be invited to engage with a collaborative programme of service definition, implementation, and data collection and analysis.

For informal discussion please contact Mike Bennett (m.i.bennett@leeds.ac.uk) or Matt Brown (mrdbrown@doctors.org.uk).

Centres wishing to participate are requested to register their interest with the Faculty of Pain Medicine (contact@fpm.ac.ukby Tuesday 31 March 2020.
